Paladin - Alternative feats

s elefarda a 2 by anotherwanderer d7mp9wg cropThe feats listed below are alternative feats for the core book Paladin class features and talents. The aim is to provide a bit more choice and variety. For example, if the default feat chain is defensive, the options below allow for a more aggressive build. Note that the feats below are replacements. You must take them in order, and you cannot mix and match with the core book or take both. (Of course, you can always talk to your GM, but they are not designed for it).

Smite Evil

Adventurer feat: Your Smite Evil attacks gain a +4 bonus to their critical threat range.

Champion feat: On a critical hit with Smite Evil, you can spend a recovery to heal.

Epic feat: If you spend a recovery this way, a nearby ally can heal half the amount.

Bastion

Adventurer feat: When you use Bastion to reduce damage, you gain a free use of Smite Evil against the attacker.

Champion feat: After you use Bastion to reduce damage, your melee attacks deal 1d12 extra holy damage until the end of the battle.

Epic feat: Once per day, increase the escalation die by 1 after you use Bastion to reduce damage.

Cleric Training

Adventurer feat: If you choose a spell that targets one or more allies, you can use it as a free action after you hit with Smite Evil.

Champion feat: If you choose a daily spell, you gain a second daily use, at your level -2.

Epic feat: If you choose a spell that can be cast for power or broad effect, gain both.

Fearless

Adventurer feat: Whenever an enemy attempts to disengage from you, it takes a penalty to its check equal to your Charisma modifier.

Champion feat: You gain a +4 bonus to opportunity attacks.

Epic feat: You gain resist psychic 18+.

Implacable

Adventurer feat: Increase your base hit points to (9 + CON mod).

Champion feat: Once per battle, you can roll a save as an immediate action after being affected by a condition that a save can end.

Epic feat: Your death saves are normal saves (11+).

Lay on Hands

Adventurer feat: The target ally can also roll a save.

Champion feat: You gain the cleric spell Sanctuary.

Epic feat: You gain the cleric spell Resurrection.

Paladin's Challenge

Adventurer feat: You and the challenged enemy gain a +2 bonus to melee attacks against each other.

Champion feat: You and the challenged enemy gain a bonus to melee attack damage against each other equal to the higher level of you two.

Epic feat: You and the challenged enemy are vulnerable to each other's attacks.

Path of Universal Righteous Endeavor

Adventurer feat: When you are in a battle where the weak or innocent are in immediate danger of harm, gain a +1 bonus to all defenses.

Champion feat: When you are in a battle where the weak or innocent are in immediate danger of harm, gain a free standard action the first time you are staggered by an attack.

Epic feat: Once per day, when you are in a battle where the weak or innocent are in immediate danger of harm, increase the escalation die by 1 as a free action.

Way of Evil Bastards

Adventurer feat: If you hurt a weak or innocent being in a battle, gain a +1 bonus to attacks until the end of the battle.

Champion feat: Once per battle, if you make an attack against a weak or innocent being, it is a quick action.

Epic feat: Once per day, if you hurt a weak or innocent being in a battle, immediately increase the escalation die by 1.
